Changing Lives, Changing Times – the Musical was a creative collaboration inspired by the real stories of disability history and social change. Performed by Cathedral Academy of Performing Arts (CAPA) and Cockburn School.
The 90 minute performance drew on life history interviews with three individuals born in the 1940s, 1960s and 1980s in the U.K, who grew up with physical impairments. Through a creative conversation between music, movement and theatre, this performance explores how the lives of young disabled people are shaped and change over historical time.
Based on findings of the Social Science Disability research project which looked at how life has changed for young disabled people between World War II and the present day, this musical theatre performance uses the skills of students from CAPA College and Cockburn School to translate the page to the stage.
